Differences between AQ (Al-Qaida) and ISIS

Differences between AQ (Al-Qaida) and ISIS

– AQ does not say Khilafa should be delayed, but they say that only “announcing” the Khilafa should be delayed because “announcing” it without actually ‘establishing” it and without fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the Khilafa is a deception. Secondly, AQ is striving the most for the Khilafa because they are fighting against the occupiers of our land and by fighting them they are really coming closer to the establishment of the Khilafa. So the one who fights against the occupiers of our land is the one who truly is bringing the Khilafa. On the other hand ISIS is fighting THE ONES who are fighting the Kaafir enemies. And because of ISIS, Bashar and the Shia got more time to reorganize and remain in power, and ISIS caused the delay in the fall of Bashar. This means that ISIS actually DELAYED the establishment of the Khilafa. Because how can you establish the Khilafa when the Muslims are still under the control of the Kuffars? ISIS delayed the fall of Bashar and that means ISIS really DELAYED the establishment of Khilafa.

And mere claims and announcement of the Khilafa does not change the reality. In fact the situation of the Muslims became worse after this so called “announcement’. If it was a true Khilafa, the situation of the Muslims would have improved and not become worse. So this proves that their claim is false.

– Secondly, if ISIS claims that Jihad should be done only under an Imam or a Khalifa, then that is the view of the deviants and of some modern groups like Hizbu Tahreer.

– AQ tries to establish whatever they can from the Shareeah but they say that Hudood should be delayed in Darul Harb and this is in accordance with many of the religious texts. So if ISIS accuses AQ of not implementing the Shareeah, then they are either ignoring the religious texts or slandering the Ulama. Otherwise, what will they say to Ali (ra) who fought against Muawiya because Ali (ra) wanted to delay the Qisas and the Hadd punishment on those who killed Uthman (ra)? Was Ali (ra) abandoning the Shareeah when he wanted to avoid Qisas and avoid punishing the culprits before making his rule and authority to be firm and settled? In fact when ISIS is accusing AQ of not applying Hudood, they are similar to the Khawarij who slandered Ali (ra) saying he does not rule by the Shareeah. So was Ali (ra) sinful when he fought against Muawiya by delaying the Shareeah punishment on those who killed Uthman (ra)?

Moreover, ISIS themselves ran away from Shareah courts when they were called to by others. So that proves that they themselves do not want to rule by the Shareeah except when if suits them. This is in fact the way of the hypocrites.

AQ believes that everyone should be under the judgement of the Shareeah and everyone should be educated regarding the Shareeah.

–  AQ never advocated for allying with the Kuffar against the Muslims but ISIS did ally with the Kuffar directly or indirectly when fighting against the Muslims as pointed out by many scholars such as when they joined with the forces of Bashar many times to attack the Muslims after surrounding them together, and also the members of ISIS spied on the Mujahideen in Yemen for the sake of the Kuffar as was proven last year when the Mujahideen arrested the ISIS spy who helped the Kuffars kill many leaders of AQ in Yemen. And similar to that is when ISIS helped the Kuffar to track down the Mujahideen leaders in Libya by making public the details of their whereabouts and their location for all the Kuffars to see. On the contrary when a few months back, Turkey decided to attack ISIS alongwith other countries, at that time AQ issued a statement in which they publicly refused to join with Turkey and her allies to attack ISIS or take advantage of the attack of the Kuffar against ISIS.

– AQ in general makes a distinction between the Raafidhi laymen and their leaders when making Takfeer on them. And this is the stance of Sheikh ul Islam Ibn Taymiyya and many scholars of the Mujahideen even from the time of Sheikh Usama (ra). In fact their own senior Shariah judge Turki Binali also said the same. And similarly many of the past leaders of ISIS also distinguished between the ordinary Raafidha and those who are waging war and massacring the Ahlu Sunnah.

– According to AQ, if a Khalifa has been appointed without the consent of the Ummah and its leaders, then such a Khalifa should be removed because he has no right to rule the Ummah without their consent. And this is in accordance with the statement of Umar (ra) who said that if anyone gives pledge to a man without the consent of the Ummah, then both the man and the one who pledged to him could be killed. But on the contrary, ISIS did just what Umar (ra) spoke and warned against. So their so called leader does not deserve obedience but deserves what Umar (ra) mentioned in his statement, which is to be killed.

Conclusion :

AQ is striving for the Khilafa more than any one else. And ISIS is the biggest OBSTACLE for the Khilafa, because for establishing the Khilafa, you need to have strength and control, but ISIS became a reason for the Ummah to become weak. Hence ISIS is an obstacle for the Khilafa and are not from those who strive for it. In fact, due to ISIS betraying the Ummah, the regime of Bashar got more life to stay on when they were almost about to collapse. So this means that ISIS is actually DELAYING the Khilafa instead of establishing it.

One of the western Kaafir leaders once said, “If they have Mullah Umar, then we will set up a Mullah Bradely”. That is, they will set up a fake Mullah to turn the Muslims away from the real and true Mullah. And this is exactly what ISIS did. They set up a fake “Khilafa” to deceive the Muslims and turn them away from the real and true Khilafa.

ISIS has done exactly what the Kuffars wanted to do in order to destroy the strength of the Muslims and cause them to be defeated.

A statement in regards to the issue of Ghanima (spoils) for the field of Shaam

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of all that exists. Prayers and peace be upon the most honorable of the creation, and the leader of the Messengers, our master Muhammad – the trustworthy one, his family and his companions, all of them.

Many questions have been asked from the land of Shaam about the spoils and the method of their distribution. And injustice occurred to the troops as they were given but little of the spoils and they were not distributed as known in Fiqh. And the soldiers complain of difficult conditions and poverty. And this is true and we do not blame soldiers for their complaints. The organization wants to explain that the costs of war are great and that it is in need of money and that it is working on the basis of the religion and striving to feed the troops in the headquarters and securing the weapons and the ammunitions. The war is severe and consumes a lot of arms and ammunitions. And Jihad or repelling the attacker cannot be continued without retaining back a large part of the spoils, and the heavy weapons in specific cannot be distributed with the spoils. And there are similar explanations. There are also opinions about the rule for spoils obtained from the tyrant governments as the weapons and money that they have in their possession in fact belong to the Muslims and are stolen from them by the tyrants, and so the weapons of their armies were also bought with the money of the Muslims. Therefore the spoils obtained from the tyrant regime are the wealth of the Muslims and must be spent in their interests, and the most important of these is fighting their enemies and for the services which are necessary for the Muslims. And then there are those who believe that these spoils are Ghaneema but say that the Ameer is allowed to spent the spoils before distribution as proven by the Sunnah of the Prophet in the battle of Hunain.

So the doors are plenty and the souls are fraught and every one considers that what they say is the right one. And similar to that are the soldiers, there is no blame and rebuke on the soldiers because they suffer from poverty while some Ameers do not fear Allah and choose for themselves what raises their standard of living many times over those of their soldiers. This may cause grief and resentment in the hearts of the soldiers as they are humans and injustice and corruption disturbs them and the love of money is within humans while conditions are especially rough and difficult. So these Ameers should fear Allah and not distinguish themselves from the soldiers.

I will not discuss the issue from the point of view of Fiqh as its explanation is long and I will leave it to the scholars as the matter has reached them and they have the knowledge about this problem. But I will discuss the issue from the point of view of piety and fear of God and its relation to the life hereafter.

All of us have studied battle of Hunain in the life of the Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and the problem that happened with the Ansaar when the Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, gave some tribes and persons the greater part of the spoils. The Ansaar were disappointed that the leaders of Quraish had the larger part of the spoils while it were Ansaar who supported, helped and contributed to the establishment of the Islamic State and theirs was the greatest number in the Muslim army. So they felt resentment about the distribution of the Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said, “He is giving to the Quraish and is leaving us while our swords are dripping with their blood.”

The word reached the Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he asked Sa’d bin Ubadah if he feels what his people feel. So Sa’d replied to the Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, when he asked him where he stood that “I am but one of my people”.

And here I say to the Ameers that your troops are not more God-fearing or more pious than the Ansaar. So it is not strange that they feel something about the distribution of the spoils or discrimination of the Ameers against them. Therefore do not speak harshly with the soldiers and do not ignore what is in their hearts.

Did the Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say to the Ansaar, “I am the leader and the messenger of Allah, and it is obligatory upon you to listen and obey and not to debate”…etc.?

Did the Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, ignore the Ansaar’s complaint and their criticism of him? Or did he listen to them?

Did the Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, leave the problem without solving it immediately?  Or did he solve and cure the problem quickly as it was a problem inside the army?

Did the Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, ignore the matter and leave the fire smoldering under the ashes or hasten to speak openly and to convince the Ansaar of the rightness of his decision according to Shariah and logic.

All these questions are addressed to the Ameers, and they must deal with any problem inside the troops just like how the Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, dealt with the Ansaar’s problem.

O Ameers and Jurists! The Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not use his political authority as an Ameer or religious authority as a Prophet and suppress or ignore Ansaar’s protest. Instead he hastened to solve the problem with great wisdom and calmness and hit the problem at its root.

First of all, the Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not ignore the problem until it escalated and went out of the circle of his companions. Instead he called Sa’d bin Ubadah to assemble the Ansaar only in Huzaira. This is to subdue the problem. While the problem of the soldiers (today) has become common knowledge and every student, scholar or observer has become aware of the problem of the spoils and poor living conditions of the troops.

O Ameers and especially top most Ameer! Why did you not subdue the problem and the misconduct has continued?

Secondly, the Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not ignore the Ansaar and did not say to them, “I am the Ameer and the Prophet and it is obligatory upon on you to listen and obey.” Had he said so, it would have been obligatory upon them and they would have obeyed as they were the Ansaar with whom Allah was pleased with. But the Prophet gave them the Shareeah and logical argument as to why he gave the greater share of the spoils to the Quraish. The Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, “I gave to the people who were recently in a state of disbelief to conciliate them (to Islam) with it.”

And then the Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, drew their attention to what they had of the grace and blessing which was the presence of the Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. And that was much greater than what was given to the Quraish. He said, “What is it that I have heard regarding you? And that you are angry with me! Did not I come to you when you were astray and Allah guided you, and in poverty and Allah enriched you, and enemies to each other and Allah brought your hearts together?”

Then he reminded them of the hereafter and said, “You would soon find after me preferences (over you in getting material benefits). So you should show patience until you meet me at the Haud (Kauthar).”

O Ameers and Jurists! Did you sit with the troops as the Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did and convince them of your logical and Shareeah reasons?!!!

What is stopping you from visiting the headquarters and speaking with the soldiers to satisfy them?

This is obligatory on you and not just recommended. The one who is greater than you sat with his soldiers and removed the discontent from their hearts. And here I tell you that in the hearts of your soldiers are many matters of discontent and not just one. So fear Allah regarding the soldiers who have faced the odds and achieved victories. Is it right that the soldiers are poor while the Ameers ride the most luxurious cars?

The neglect of the Ameers are not hidden even to the blind, so take your stance oh the general Ameer, because you will be the responsible one in front of Allah.

And now I address the soldiers! The soldiers of Allah! The men of Allah! The people whom Allah chose and He selected from His creation to be pleased with, and those Allah chose for the best of the lands, the land of Shaam. Remember the blessing of Allah upon you when He made you able to reach Shaam, the best of His lands, towards which He has chosen the best of His creations. As narrated by Abu Umamah from the Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, “Shaam is the best of Allah’s land, He chooses for it the best of His creations.”

Which blessing or favour in this world can be equal to that of Allah choosing you from His creations? Can there be any blessing greater than this blessing and grace? Are these spoils which are in reality just crumbs of this world worth losing this blessing?

O soldiers! O men of Allah! Is this not enough for you that you have been marked out by Allah for the best act of worship and the most obligatory one after the belief in Allah which is, fighting the attackers and doing Jihad for Allah?

O soldiers! Have you come for the spoils or for seeking the paradise? Paradise is the commodity of Allah, and Allah’s commodity is expensive, very expensive. The Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, “Behold, the commodity of Allah is expensive. Verily the commodity of Allah is paradise.”

O soldiers! Have you not gone forth by abandoning the world and hoping for what is with Allah? Have you not sold the world to purchase the hereafter? So the way to paradise is filled with hardships because it is the commodity of Allah.

The one who has sold the world to purchase the hereafter should not let the love of this world enter his heart, and let him be patient and seek the reward.  And you have sold yourself to Allah and Allah has accepted the trade. So do not let the temporary enjoyment of this world make you break your oath with Allah. Allah has said, “Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah, so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And that is what the great victory is.”

So rejoice O the best of Allah’s creation, O those doing Jihad in the best of His lands.

And praise to Allah, the Lord of all that exists.

But Allah came to them from where they did not expect

Glad tidings to cool the hearts

D. Abdullah al-Muhaysini

Al-Salaam alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakaatahu

But Allah came to them from where they did not expect it [translator’s note: “But Allah came to them from where they did not expect” is a reference to the 2nd Ayat of Surah al-Hashr]

My beloved ones .. to complete my previous tweets regarding Ihsan al-Dhann in Allah (to have good thoughts and expectations in Allah) – subhaanahu wa ta’ala, I say: there is one who says: “How can we have good thoughts in Allah – most high?

And some say: “We have good thoughts in Allah, however the reality is different from your optimism, for we see a dark tunnel – very black – and we don’t see anything but this, so how can we be given victory?!

How can you be optimistic, and we don’t see any light approaching and no hope returning in the darkness of this attack and this evil gathering and unification?! How can you be optimistic while you see the disunity of the factions?!

How can you be optimistic while you see the advancing of the enemy?!

How can you be optimistic while we see how the close and the far betrayed us, and we see the silence of the world – rather it’s plotting against us – and it’s stances with the enemy against us?!”

I say: Indeed the one with these pessimistic views have not swallowed the great Rabbani meanings received in the book of Allah, he did not recite the statement of Allah: “But Allah came to them from where they did not expect”.

He did not recite that recitation – reflect and contemplate .. Indeed his saying – most high: “But Allah came to them from where they did not expect” is from the greatest of the Ayaat that I stood by it, and reflected over it, and found within it great treasures.

“But Allah came to them from where they did not expect” is an ayat that I never read a day, except that I found optimism filled my mind and my body and that it flowed through my veins .. indeed it is the speech of Allah – all capable and most wise!

“But Allah came to them from where they did not expect”, the people of Nuh – alayhis-salam – did not expect that the boat built on land would save Nuh and those with him from the greatest Tufan that mankind had known.

The denying people of Nuh did not expect that the earth would become gushing water springs, and that the water would prevail over everything and that their end would be because of that, and that severity and severe taking from Allah.

No one thought that the rigid wooden staff in the hand of Musa would split the sea and Musa and his people would cross, and Firawn and his army would be destroyed “But Allah came to them from where they did not expect”.

Nimrod did not expect that Allah would destroy him with the most weak of creations, so Allah destroyed him with mosquitoes, and he did not expect that (to happen) “But Allah came to them from where they did not expect”.

No one expected that Ibrahim – alayhis-salam – would be safe and he would exit alive and in well-being from the fire his enemies lit for him, and they thought he would be destroyed “But Allah came to them from where they did not expect”.

And in the safety of Ibrahim – alayhis-salam – was destruction for them and a nullification for their power and their Gods and arguments. Allah saved him from the blazing fire encompassing him, and like that Allah saves the believers.

The people of Lut – alayhis-salam – did not think that their end would be that Allah would send angels to lift the Qaryat (village/city/town/dwelling) high, and turn it on it’s head, and send it to the earth.

And the people of ‘Ad did not expect that Allah would send to them a violent wind, so it would destroy them. And the people of Thamud did not expect that Allah would destroy them with the shout that cut their hearts and left them as lifeless corpses.

“But Allah came to them from where they did not expect” the Mufassiroon (scholars of tafsir) said in it’s meaning: in other words: so the decision of Allah came to them from where they didn’t expect it to come to them, from where they did not consider and where they didn’t know.

And for that, when the analyzers analyze, and when I find lessons, and strategies and expected scenarios – then there is a scenario that no one considered “But Allah came to them from where they did not expect”.

So have good optimism and Ihsan al-Dhann in your lord. And know that when Allah wants something, all he says to it is “kun (be)” and it is (“kun fayakun”). They are two letters Allah says “kun fayakun” so Bashar and those with him are defeated.

And Russia and America are defeated, and the people wake up, and it becomes in the blink of an eye that Allah changed a state (condition/situation) to a state (condition/situation). And that is not difficult for Allah, and a day we rejoice in the help of Allah.

Let us do Jihad, and work, and take the means, and the results are in the hand of Allah. And Allah will not disappoint his slaves and will not establish for his enemies and will not betray his army. So have comfort and trust in your lord.

We ask Allah that he hastens his help for the people of Sham, and shows us the end and punishment of the oppressors – hastened and not delayed.

And praise is for Allah the lord of the worlds.
