    assalamu alaikum
    dear ikhwan fil islam,

I am a layman, so, at first seeking apology…

Dear ikhwan, I am drawing your attention to an usool and its imlication mentioned in the the article “Sheikh Abu Qatada al-Filistini: The cloak of the caliph”, I could not understand how from the following usool, comes the implication:

“…”Indeed what has been prohibited in its essence in the religion, does not occur in parts”.

What is implied is: That is not taken in parts indicating the absence of its religious essence….” [end of quote]

Dear ikhwan, if the term “prohibited” used in the usool is replaced by the term “permitted” then i understand “what is implied” i.e.

“Indeed what has been permitted in its essence in the religion, does not occur in parts”.
From this, according to my understanding, following is implied: “That is not taken in parts indicating the absence of its religious essence….”

Dear, it seems to me, an error might have occured during english translation of the usool. will you kindly check if english translation is right?

    Dear, I am a layman…

may allah accept us as martyred

All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds

    Your Brother

Wa alaykum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

May Allah Bless you dear brother for pointing out this. However the translation I believe is correct, the Arabic being : (إن المنهي عنه شرعًا لذاته فإنه لا يقع مجزئًا)

Inshallah we intend to bring out a new edition of the book very shortly in which we will make certain paragraphs more clear and add some footnotes as way of explanation.

If you have any more issues or feedback then please always share with us.
